A real childhood favorite!

As rumor goes, Raggedy Ann got her name by combining two childhood favorites, Little Orphan Annie and The Raggedy Man. As a child, a girl named Marcella asked her father to draw a face on her little rag doll, he did so and gave the doll the name Raggedy Ann.
Johnny Gruelle’s family then brought the little doll, all stitched by hand to life in 1915. Raggedy Andy did not debut until 1918 when the first book came out about the pair.

Here is a wonderful collection of Raggedy Ann dolls, all with a matching Andy. These dolls are perfect for decorating a child's nursery, vintage style.
