Happy Summer

Well yesterday was the official first day of summer and what a gift we got...RAIN! In summer our thoughts turn to beaches, lakes, the seashore and other resort areas as we plan our vacations.

My childhood summer vacations where filled with days at the beach or loafing in the lake on a float my brother and I fashioned from old pieces of wood we found.

Those days bring back wonderful memories of sleeping on the back porch surrounded by chirping crickets and frogs.

Today many people are transforming their own screened porches and decks into sleeping rooms where you can nap during the day or sleep listening to nature at night. Decorating can be fun with vintage architectural finds, old iron beds, and lots of cozy covers to carry you into the cooler evenings.
